The cafeteria/multi-purpose room for the new building is located adjacent to the existing Elementary Center. This location was selected to be able to utilize one kitchen to prepare lunches for both facilities. The existing kitchen will continue to serve the Elementary Center as originally designed, but will be modified to access a new serving area attached to the south side of the kitchen. This new serving area will be part of the new cafeteria structure of the Intermediate School. The cafeteria includes a small stage area for band practice and performances, as well as for school assemblies.

School security has been a prime focus in the development of the new building. The main entrance for the school is located off the Kutztown Road parking area by the community library. Other than the time periods for students arriving and leaving the school, the only access to the building without a card access key will be through the main office. Additional safety features planned for the building are security cameras and an automatic sprinkler system for fire safety.
